This would enable an honorable rebooting of the franchise by the Disney company, which acquired rights to the series three years ago when it bought the Lucasfilm operation from Star Wars creator George Lucas (who had very little input on this picture). They have also brought back a number of iconic characters and accouterments, and they salute vintage scenes and catch-phrases with knowing fanboy purpose.ДЄn equally important objective was to refresh the Star Wars brand with new young stars-very good ones, it turns out-and to wall off the first trilogy with a presumably irreversible plot development (one of two significant narrative twists).

Abrams and cowriters Lawrence Kasdan (a toiler on two of the original films) and Michael Arndt have devised a story that will be, shall we say, familiar to anyone who has ever seen the first Star Wars movie, released in 1977. (The sluggish prequels have been largely stuffed down the franchise memory hole.) To do this, director J.J. Foremost, it tickles the pleasure centers of the legion of Star Wars fans who have waited 30-some years for the series to return to form. This is my part.вЂ™ Like with Freydis I was like, вЂOh, great.Star Wars: The Force Awakens accomplishes two missions very handily. I can honestly say so many of the projects that IвЂ™ve read for and then I end up seeing someone else go get it and youвЂ™re like, вЂYeah, sheвЂ™s probably gonna do a better job than me.вЂ™ But then there are some jobs where you just read it and youвЂ™re like, вЂNo. ItвЂ™s not because IвЂ™m not good enough,вЂ™ or, вЂItвЂ™s not because I donвЂ™t have any self-worth or because I donвЂ™t deserve to be here.вЂ™ YouвЂ™re not right for everything. I think thatвЂ™s something that helps that IвЂ™ve worked since I was 12 because IвЂ™ve had noes, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, and at some point, you realize, вЂOh, well itвЂ™s not because I suck.

вЂњA no is a no and IвЂ™ve had a million noes in my career. What was the key to hearing вЂњno' and being able to forge forward? So yes, Gustavsson is able to look back on the audition and appreciate what she took from it, but what about in the moment? Her first big audition and she didnвЂ™t book the role. But also, itвЂ™s quite interesting when you approach it totally green and totally fresh, and you donвЂ™t really realize how big it is to get to do something like that and who the people on the other side of the self-tape are.вЂќ But itвЂ™s double, you know? In a way, I was like, wow, itвЂ™s incredible to get to read text of that quality and to work at that level, or to try to work at that level so soon. вЂњI think I did a decent enough job, but I was not prepared to do something of that scale and IвЂ™m incredibly glad that I didnвЂ™t end up getting it now because I would have absolutely tanked it. Given Daisy Ridley is our Rey, clearly, Gustavsson didnвЂ™t get the part, but sheвЂ™s actually grateful things panned out that way. I had a modeling agent who was amazing at IMG Models, and she knew that I was kind of on the way out and I think she wanted to help me facilitate the bridge and, of course, the first audition she comes up with is Star Wars.вЂќ вЂњThat was kind of in the death part of my modeling career.
